The short answer: A Rolex full service at SwissMade starts from £598 with genuine parts, a comprehensive 2-year warranty, and a 4–6 week turnaround. Basic maintenance begins at £298. Your final cost depends on the model, the type of service required, and whether any additional parts are needed.
How much should you expect to pay for a Rolex service in the UK? The range you'll find online is broad, anywhere from £220 for basic maintenance to £900+ at an official Rolex Service Centre and that spread can make it difficult to plan. The reality is that Rolex service cost depends far less on the name on the dial than most owners assume, and far more on the type of work your watch actually needs.
We've been servicing Rolex watches at our Hatton Garden workshop since 1985, and we think you deserve clear pricing rather than vague estimates.
Below, you'll find our starting prices for each service tier, what's included, which models cost more to service (and why), and how our pricing compares to the official route.
Rolex Service Pricing at SwissMade
Every Rolex service uses genuine manufacturer parts. The prices below are starting points, your final cost will depend on the specific model, the complexity of its movement and whether any additional parts are needed beyond standard service components.
Service | Price From | Warranty | Turnaround |
Full Service | £598 | 2 years (parts, accuracy & water resistance) | 6 - 8 weeks |
Basic Maintenance | £298 | 1 year (workmanship & parts) | 6 - 8 weeks |
Battery Replacement (quartz models) | £70 | 1 year (battery life) | Walk-in same day |
Vintage Restoration | POA | Discussed on assessment | Varies by scope |
We service the full Rolex range; Submariner, Daytona, GMT-Master II, Datejust, Day-Date, Explorer, Sea-Dweller, Sky-Dweller, Yacht-Master, Oyster Perpetual, and Air-King.
Because each model uses a different calibre with varying levels of complexity, the final service cost reflects the specific work involved.
A three-hand Oyster Perpetual, for example, is a more straightforward service than a Daytona chronograph or a Sky-Dweller with its annual calendar module. We'll always provide a clear quote before any work begins, so you know exactly what to expect.

What's Included in a Rolex Full Service?
A full service isn't just an oil change for your watch. Our specialist watchmakers take your Rolex through a detailed multi-stage process that typically spans 6 - 8 weeks.
Movement work comes first. The movement is carefully removed from the case and completely disassembled - for a calibre 3235 (found in the modern Submariner and Datejust), that's well over 200 individual components. Each part is inspected under magnification for wear, then ultrasonically cleaned and dried. Worn components are replaced with genuine Rolex parts before the movement is reassembled, lubricated and regulated to within COSC standards.
Case and bracelet receive their own attention. Gaskets and seals are replaced, the case is cleaned, and (if you'd like it) the case and bracelet can be professionally refinished to reduce scratches and restore the original finish. We always discuss polishing with you beforehand, because some owners (particularly those with vintage pieces) prefer to keep their watch's natural patina.
Final testing includes water resistance verification to the depth rating specified for your model and a minimum 48-hour accuracy check on our timing machines. Your watch is then returned fully assembled with a detailed report of all work carried out.
This is the same standard of work you'd expect from an official service centre, the difference is turnaround and cost.
Rolex Service Cost: SwissMade vs Official Service Centre
This is the comparison most Rolex owners are really looking for. Official Rolex Service Centres (RSCs) do excellent work, but there are trade-offs worth understanding.
SwissMade | Official Rolex (RSC) | |
Full service from | £598 | £900+ |
Turnaround | 6 - 8 weeks | 20-30 weeks (typical) |
Parts | Genuine Rolex | Genuine Rolex |
Warranty | 2 years | 2 years |
Convenience | Free insured postal service (up to £25,000) or walk in at Hatton Garden | Drop off at authorised retailer or RSC |
Vintage watches (35+ years) | Yes - specialist restoration available | Limited - may decline watches discontinued 35+ years ago |
The pricing gap between independent specialists and official centres has narrowed in recent years. Where the difference becomes significant is turnaround time.
A 20-30 week wait is standard through official channels, and some owners have reported waits closer to six months. If your Rolex is a daily wearer, that's a long time without it on your wrist.
Both routes use genuine Rolex parts and both offer a 2-year warranty. The choice often comes down to how soon you need your watch back and whether your Rolex is still under its original manufacturer guarantee.
When the official route makes more sense: If your Rolex is under its original 5-year Rolex guarantee, servicing through an RSC or authorised retailer protects that coverage. For watches outside that guarantee period (which is most of them) an experienced independent specialist offers the same quality of work, typically faster and at a lower cost.
What Affects the Cost of Your Rolex Service?
While our base pricing is consistent across models, the final cost of your service can be influenced by a few factors.
The model you own is one of the biggest factors. Rolex movements vary significantly in complexity, a Daytona's chronograph calibre (the 4130 or newer 4131) has considerably more components than the three-hand movement in an Explorer or Oyster Perpetual, and servicing it requires more time and expertise.
Models with additional complications, such as the Sky-Dweller's annual calendar or the GMT-Master II's independently adjustable hour hand, fall between the two. The "from" prices in the table above reflect the simplest end of the range; your quote will be based on the specific calibre in your watch.
Age and condition matter most for watches that have gone many years without servicing. A Rolex that's been worn daily for 15 years without attention will likely need more replacement parts than one serviced on a regular cycle. Pivots wear, mainsprings fatigue, and gaskets degrade, all of which add to the parts bill.
Replacement parts are quoted individually and transparently. Common additions include crystals, crowns, and bezels. We'll always provide a full breakdown before proceeding, so there are no surprises on your final invoice.
Case and bracelet refinishing is optional on every service. A professional polish and refinish typically adds to the cost but can make a noticeable difference to the overall appearance. For daily wearers with desk-diving scratches, it's often worth considering. For collectors or owners of vintage references, we'd usually recommend preserving the original finish.
Will Rolex Service an Older or Vintage Watch?
This is a question we hear regularly, and the answer isn't always what owners expect.
Rolex guarantees factory service availability for approximately 35 years after a model is discontinued. Beyond that window, an official RSC may decline to service your watch, not out of unwillingness, but because they may no longer stock the specific parts your movement requires.
That's where an experienced independent specialist becomes essential. Our watchmakers have restored Rolex timepieces spanning decades of production, from 1960s Oyster Perpetuals to early Submariners and vintage Datejusts. Vintage restoration at SwissMade includes a comprehensive condition assessment with detailed photography, preservation of original patina and character where appropriate, and sourcing of genuine Rolex parts where replacements are necessary.
If you have a vintage Rolex that's been declined by an official centre, or one that's been sitting in a drawer for years, get in touch for an assessment. Restoration pricing is quoted individually because the scope varies considerably from one watch to the next.
How to Save on Your Rolex Service
A few practical steps can help you manage the long-term cost of maintaining your Rolex.
Service on schedule, not when something breaks. Rolex recommends servicing approximately every 10 years, though many watchmakers (ourselves included) suggest checking in every 7–8 years for daily wearers. Servicing a watch before components fail is almost always less expensive than waiting until damage occurs. A worn mainspring is a standard replacement, but a worn mainspring that snaps and damages other components is a bigger job.
Use the postal service. If you're outside London, our free insured postage pack (covered up to £25,000) means you don't need to factor in travel costs for a trip to Hatton Garden. We send you a secure, pre-paid pack, you post your watch, and we return it fully insured once the work is complete. It's how we service Rolex watches for owners across the UK.
Think carefully about cosmetic work. Polishing and refinishing improve the look of your watch but add to the cost. If your Rolex is keeping good time and you're not bothered by surface wear, you can skip refinishing and opt for it on a future service instead.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a Rolex service cost in the UK?
At SwissMade, a Rolex full service starts from £598 with genuine parts and a 2-year warranty, with the final cost depending on your specific model and its movement complexity. Official Rolex Service Centres typically charge between £900+ or more. A straightforward three-hand model will cost less to service than a chronograph or complication, we provide a clear quote before any work begins.
How often should I service my Rolex?
Rolex recommends approximately every 10 years. For watches worn daily, many specialist watchmakers recommend every 7-8 years. If you notice your watch running more than a few seconds fast or slow per day, or if the crown feels stiff when winding, those are signs a service may be due sooner.
Is an independent Rolex service as good as an official one?
An experienced independent specialist uses the same genuine Rolex parts and follows the same technical procedures as an official centre. At SwissMade, our Rolex services carry a comprehensive 2-year warranty covering parts, movement accuracy, and water resistance, matching the official Rolex warranty. The main difference is turnaround: we typically complete services in 4-6 weeks compared to 20-30 weeks through official channels.
How long does a Rolex service take?
At SwissMade, the standard turnaround for a Rolex full service is 4-6 weeks. This includes complete movement overhaul, case and bracelet work, and final testing. Official Rolex Service Centres currently quote turnaround times of 20-30 weeks on average, though this varies by location and demand.
Do you use genuine Rolex parts?
Yes. Every Rolex service at SwissMade uses genuine manufacturer parts. This applies to both standard service components (gaskets, seals, mainsprings) and any additional parts your watch may need, such as crystals, crowns, or bezels.
